Spare is the most difficult photo challenge for me. Having try on this! This is also a photograph from Pandharpur Yatra. The Dummy chariot is pulled by these many horses, mainly dummy and spare. Palkhi Rath is pulled by Oxes in Real in Pandharpur Wari or Yatra.

Know about Olympic Torch

Unique feature of Olympic games is the Olympic torch and its relay from the Greece to the venue of the Olympics. The torch is created newly for each edition of the Olympic game. It has lighting ceremony and relay crossing different continents.

Lighting of Olympic Torch

The flame is lit in Olympia, Greece in the memory of ancient Olympic games few months before the actual event date. This year it was lit on 24 April 2016. This ceremony of the lighting is  worth watching and you can see VDOs on you tube. Interesting fact about lighting is, torch is only lit by sunlight. Parabolic reflector is used to concentrate sun rays to lit the Olympic Torch.

Indian team officially participated in 1928 Olympic games at Amsterdam. This was the first time Indian Hockey team participated in their first Olympic hockey event with 14 Men squad. Captain Jaipal Singh and the team fetched first Olympic gold medal. Pandharpur Yatra : Spiritual Journey

Faces captured in Dindi, pilgrimage to Pandharpur (Lord Vishnu Temple), followed by millions of Varkari (a pilgrim) is a unique aspect of culture in Maharashtra. These Varkaris from all over Maharashtra participates in Dindi every year. They walk, sing, dance and live this festival for about 22 days with full of life. This spiritual happiness creates the environment full of serenity. Serene expressions caught in the camera in 2013 are illustrated as assuming myself in the frame. You can also visit the self initiated project on these illustrations- Mi Mauli

Golden Era of Indian Hockey

During 1928-1956 India have won successive 6 Gold Medals, all they are coming from Field Hockey.  Indian Hockey team won two Gold Medals in 1964 and 1980 version of Summer Olympics. In 1960 India got Silver Medal in Hockey and in 1968, 1972, bronze medals. In total 26 medals in the history of the Olympic games, 11 Medals have come from a single sports and that is Field Hockey. After 1980, India could not score any medal in Hockey.

This week I tried to post something new and interesting about ‘How to Design Our Own Photo Quotes Easily’. In the last few posts, I have explained briefly about the free online easy tools with some examples of Photo Quotes. Today I would love to summerise the work of the whole week. Free Online Tools to Make Picture Quotes Online

  • Font Meme : A resource for fonts & typography. We can use thier text  generator.
  • Canva : A complete package of graphic design for web and print also.
  • Pixteller: For any image design it can be easily used.
  • Recite: Just type the quote and get the final design from 25+ templates.
  • Behappy: Offers very basic typographic design but you can sell your quotes here.
  • Pikiz: Also a complete package for graphic design, similar to canva.

I will recommend to try out all of these and choose the most easy to use.

May 5, is celebrated as World Cartoonists Day in the memory of publishing of the first ever colour cartoon, The Yellow Kid in 1895. On his 94th Birth anniversary posted about website showcasing R K Laxman’s cartoons and books. A great salute to an Indian cartoonist,  Illustrator, and humorist, R K Laxman  who created common man in 1951. Google had also paid tribute to R K Laxman a Google Doodle on R K Laxman.  Interested can read more about the post on R K Laxman.
