I have shared many photo posts on my memories of last year Pandharpur yatra also called as Dindi. This Rangoli Design is from last year’s Pandharpur wari collections. The lines at the bottom of the photograph say, “Started a School of Chanting Vithal (Lord Vishnu)”

This varkari is having rest after walking a distance of half a day. Looking at his face I found he is not at all tired, but Jubilant simply expressing happiness of being part of Pandharpur Yatra. You can refer my previous posts on Pandharpur Yatra. All they are walking the path of Spiritual Journey chanting the name of God and Saints and happiness on their faces.

This varkari is playing Tutari- a wind instrument, a sort of horn. Jubilant simply expressing happiness as they are being part of Pandharpur Yatra. Faces captured in Pandharpur Dindi. Devotees walk down to Pandharpur to reach on Ashadi Ekadashi. Briefed about about Dindi in my earlier post- Pandharpur Yatra. Pandharpur Yatra: Varkari Faces

Pandharpur Yatra (Pilgrimage)

Faces captured in Dindi, pilgrimage to Pandharpur (Lord Vishnu Temple), followed by millions of Varkari (a pilgrim) is a unique aspect of culture in Maharashtra. These Varkaris from all over Maharashtra participates in Dindi every year. They walk, sing, dance and live this festival for about 22 days with full of life. This spiritual happiness creates the environment full of serenity. Serene expressions caught in the camera in 2013 are illustrated as assuming myself in the frame. You can also visit the self initiated project on these illustrations- Mi Mauli
