India at Olympics : Hockey
India formed Indian Olympic Association in 1927.
Indian team officially participated in 1928 Olympic games at Amsterdam. This was the first time Indian Hockey team participated in their first Olympic hockey event with 14 Men squad. Captain Jaipal Singh and the team fetched first Olympic gold medal. This was the beginning of Golden Era of Indian Hockey.
For the next 6 successive Olympics spanning 28 years from 1928-1956, Indian Hockey team performed higher and higher to retain their gold medals for the hockey event.
Hockey great Dhyan Chand, who played a pivotal role in Indian victory in the first three successive wins.
India Hockey team won two more gold medals in Olympic hockey in 1964 Tokyo Olympics and 1980 Moscow Olympics.
Indian Hockey team scored one silver medal in 1960 Rome Olympics. They scored 2 bronze medals in 1968 Mexico Olympics and 1972 Munich Olympics.
Since 36 years India has scored no medal in Hockey.

This is India and love to change the mood as per the wind! It is 1983 World Cup victory by Kapil and His team, which made India crazy about cricket! previously the same craze was about hockey too!

India Need to Qualify for World Cup and win WC, then Indians will be crazy!
